How to start selling on AJIO in seven steps

Most launch delays come from documents that don’t match and images that miss the frame rules. Work through the launch in this order and each step unlocks the next.

  1. Line up matching documents

A GSTIN is mandatory. Keep PAN, bank account, address proof, brand logo and trademark certificate in one legal name, or an authorisation letter if you resell a brand. Check your GSTIN on the GST portal first.

    • GSTIN
    • PAN
    • Bank proof
    • Trademark or authorisation
  2. Apply on the Reliance supplier portal

Registration happens at supplierregistration.ril.com. One supplier profile covers AJIO, JioMart and Reliance Digital, so enter details exactly as they appear on your GST certificate.

    • Business details
    • GST verification
  3. Clear the brand evaluation

AJIO reviews your brand before it opens catalog access. The outcome also decides which business models you can choose, so present the label the way you want buyers to see it.

    • Brand logo
    • Brand ownership proof
  4. Choose a business model

Marketplace, sale-or-return and outright each change who owns the stock, who carries unsold risk and when you are paid. Run your unit economics on all three before you sign.

    • Landed cost per style
    • Return-rate estimate
  5. Set up Seller Central and templates

Log in at seller.ajio.com, open Products, then Catalog, and download the template for each category. Starred columns are mandatory and most take dropdown values.

    • Style codes
    • EAN per size
    • Measured size chart
  6. Shoot the full angle set

Front, side, back and detail for every style at 1:1.25, plus a colour swatch and a listing video where it’s enabled. Plan it per style code with model photoshoots and a garment photoshoot in one session.

    • Steamed samples
    • Shot list by style code
  7. Upload, pass QC and go live

Upload the sheet and follow it under Upload History. Allow about 5 days of Auto QC plus 5 business days of Manual QC, then fix and re-upload only the rejected rows.

    • Image links or zip
    • Error sheet review

AJIO product image guidelines 2026-27

QC checks every file for ratio, size, fill and background, and one failed image holds back the whole style. Pick a gallery slot to see how it should be framed, then switch the guides on and off.

Cropped front-view ecommerce catalogue image for a marketplace first image slot showing a dusty rose pink cotton straight kurta with ivory thread embroidery at the neckline and yoke, worn by an Indian female model standing straight and facing the camera, cropped from the base of the nose down to mid-thigh so the kurta fills roughly 80 to 85 percent of a 1:1.25 portrait frame, arms relaxed at the sides, garment freshly steamed with no creases, seamless very light warm-grey background, even soft light from two large softboxes, subtle natural shadow, true-to-life fabric colour, straight-on eye-level camera angle, sharp focus across the embroidery, no text, no watermark and no props

Apparel rules that decide the first image

  • Front, side, back and detail are mandatory for apparel, and some categories ask for more.
  • Topwear and bottomwear lead with a cropped image that puts the garment first.
  • Mannequin, ghost mannequin and pack shots can’t be the first image. Use them later in the gallery.
  • Creases and folds get flagged, so every garment is pressed before it’s shot.
  • Celebrity imagery needs written authorisation.

HANDPICKED STYLES | ASSURED QUALITY

  1. MODEL becomes the hero

Whatever sits in the MODEL field is the first thing every shopper sees, on the listing grid and here.

  2. Video lives in the gallery

The listing video opens from the thumbnail rail, so shoot it in the same light and styling as the stills.

  3. Sizes come from your sheet

Size buttons and the size chart are built from template values. A typo here turns into a return later.

  4. Offers are AJIO’s to set

Coupons and prices come from AJIO and your terms, so promotional text never belongs on the images.

Demo listing built from this page’s sample angle set. The video slot plays an example marketplace clip.

Which shoot format fits each AJIO slot

AJIO accepts several formats, but only some can lead a listing. Plan the shoot around the first image, then fill the rest of the gallery.

  • Ecommerce catalogue photograph of an Indian male model in his late twenties wearing a light sky-blue linen shirt with rolled sleeves tucked into stone-beige chinos, cropped from the base of the nose to mid-thigh so the shirt fills about 85 percent of a 1:1.25 portrait frame, relaxed straight stance with one hand in a pocket, seamless very light grey studio backdrop, soft even key light from a large octabox with gentle fill, natural linen texture visible without creases, accurate colours, clean fashion marketplace first-image style, no text and no logoCan lead the listing

    On-model

A cropped front view on a model is the default first image for apparel, and the strongest seller in the grid.

    Model photoshoots
  • Top-down flat lay ecommerce photograph of a children's two-piece outfit, a mustard yellow cotton t-shirt with a small embroidered star and navy blue drawstring shorts, neatly arranged and smoothed on a clean off-white surface, garment shapes squared and symmetrical, filling about 80 percent of a 1:1.25 portrait frame, even shadow-free overhead lighting from large diffused panels, crisp fabric texture, accurate colours, minimal styling with no props, clean marketplace gallery image, no textDepends on category

    Flat lay

Clean and fast for kidswear, accessories and extra gallery frames. Check your category’s first-image rule before relying on it.

    Flat lay photography
  • Ghost mannequin ecommerce photograph of a classic mid-blue denim trucker jacket shown in a natural three-dimensional worn shape with the mannequin fully removed, front view with the inner back neck visible through the open neckline, buttons fastened and sleeves slightly angled, filling about 85 percent of a 1:1.25 portrait frame on a seamless light grey background, soft even lighting revealing the denim twill, contrast stitching and metal buttons, subtle realistic shadow, accurate indigo colour, clean catalogue presentation suited to a later gallery position, no text and no logoNot as the first image

    Ghost mannequin

Shows structure and fit without a model. AJIO won’t take it in the first position, so place it after the on-model angles.

    Ghost mannequin photography
  • Close-up macro ecommerce detail photograph of an indigo and white hand block-printed cotton dupatta, the repeating floral print and a hand-stitched hem filling the entire 1:1.25 frame, soft directional side light bringing out the cotton slub texture and the small print irregularities that show it is handmade, sharp focus on the hem stitching, accurate deep indigo colour, no background visible, premium textile detail shot for an ecommerce gallery detail slot, no textFills the detail slot

    Detail macro

Fabric, print or embroidery filling 100% of the frame. It answers the quality questions that cause returns.

    Fashion photography
  • Marketplace-ready footwear photograph of a single white leather low-top sneaker with a gum rubber sole shown in a clean outer side profile with the toe pointing left, the entire shoe visible and filling about 80 to 85 percent of a 1:1.25 portrait frame, very light grey seamless background with a soft realistic contact shadow under the sole, diffused light from a large softbox and a strip light defining the upper's edge, crisp stitching, perforations, laces and sole texture, accurate neutral colour balance, no props, no text and no watermarkCan lead the listing

What is an AJIO seller?

An AJIO seller is a brand or authorised supplier that lists fashion, footwear, accessories, beauty or home products on AJIO, the online fashion store run by Reliance Retail. Sellers onboard through the Reliance supplier portal, clear a brand evaluation and add styles with category templates in AJIO Seller Central. Every upload passes an automated check and a manual review, and images are inspected in both before a style goes live.

Because AJIO curates its catalogue, the bar for presentation sits closer to a fashion label’s own website than to a general marketplace. If this is your first marketplace catalogue, our ecommerce photography services page shows how a full catalogue shoot is planned.

Why sell on AJIO in 2026-27

AJIO shoppers browse for style rather than search for a part number, so a listing wins on drape, fit and finish. Reliance has also been building fast delivery on top of its store network, and the numbers so far favour the sellers who qualify for it.

Catalog upload and QC on AJIO

Listings are created in bulk. In Seller Central, open Products, then Catalog, and download the template for each category you sell. Fill every starred column, upload the sheet and follow its progress under Upload History.

Plan for around five days of Auto QC and a further five business days of Manual QC. Rejected rows come back with reasons, so correct only those rows and upload them again instead of resending the whole sheet. The AJIO cataloging guide walks through the template steps.

Four habits that save a QC round

  • Share image links only from Amazon S3, Google Drive or Dropbox, never password-protected, or upload a zip where the template asks for one.
  • Keep style codes to 18 characters or fewer.
  • Fill the EAN column for every size.
  • Pick attributes from the dropdowns instead of pasting values.

Shooting hundreds of styles? Our notes on keeping a catalogue consistent at scale and preparing garments for a model shoot cover the habits that keep every file passing.

AJIO rich content: the A+ equivalent

Sellers on AJIO don’t get an A+ module builder. The product page is assembled from the catalog data you submit, so your attributes, image angles, swatch and size data are the rich content. Brand pages and campaign placements are arranged through your AJIO account manager.

ElementWhere shoppers meet itWhat to prepare
AttributesFilters, search and the product details panelFabric, fit, pattern, sleeve and occasion, all from template dropdowns
Image anglesGallery and zoomFront, side, back and detail at 1:1.25
SwatchColour selectorA true-colour fabric crop in the SWATCH field
Size chartSize buttons and the size chartMeasured garment sizes entered in the template
Listing videoThe gallery’s video slotA short fit, fabric or movement clip, where enabled
Brand page and campaignsBrand discovery and sale eventsLifestyle and banner frames from the same shoot

Why AJIO images get rejected

  • Promotional text, price tags, brand URLs or watermarks on the image.
  • A mannequin, ghost mannequin or pack shot in the first position.
  • Creased garments, or one image repeated across several angles.
  • Files off the 1:1.25 ratio, under 1000 px, or outside 200 KB–1 MB.
  • Images you don’t own or license, including celebrity images without authorisation.

How many frames is enough? Our guide to photos per listing breaks it down by category, and real photography vs AI-generated images covers the image-rights questions sellers now face.

Listing video on AJIO

Video shows what a still can’t: how fabric falls and how a fit moves when someone walks. On AJIO it sits inside the image gallery, as the listing preview above shows. Confirm the upload specs for your category with your account manager before the shoot.

The clip below is one of our marketplace apparel commercials: short, model-led and lit to match the catalogue stills it sits beside.

We plan listing videos in the same session as the stills, so colour and styling match across the gallery. See our video production work, or UGC video creation for ecommerce if you also need creator-style clips.

AJIO seller fees and payouts

Commission on AJIO depends on your category and business model, and it is fixed in your seller agreement. Percentages quoted on third-party sites vary too widely to price from, so build your margins from your own terms sheet.

Commission
A share of the selling price, set per category and model.
Shipping
Forward logistics on marketplace orders, by weight and zone.
Returns
Reverse pickup and restocking. In fashion this is usually the largest leak.
Collection charges
Payment or collection fees, where your agreement applies them.
GST and promotions
GST on fees, plus any sale-event funding or ads you commit to.

True colour, a measured size chart and an honest fabric close-up are the cheapest ways to cut returns. More on that in how better product images reduce returns.

Marketplace, sale-or-return or outright

Your business model decides who owns the stock, who carries unsold risk and when cash arrives. Which models are open to you depends on AJIO’s evaluation of your brand.

Growth checklist for AJIO brands

  • Launch a focused range you can dispatch on time, then widen it.
  • Hold depth in your fastest sizes so styles stay eligible for faster-delivery programmes.
  • Book sale-event slots with your account manager ahead of festive peaks.
  • Refresh first images before each season; the crop is what earns the click.
  • Read return reasons every month and fix the listing, not just the stock.
  • Keep every attribute complete so styles surface in filters and search.
  • Running a premium label? Build the case for AJIO Luxe with lookbook-grade imagery.

AJIO seller FAQs

How do I register as a seller on AJIO?

Apply through the Reliance supplier portal at supplierregistration.ril.com with your GST, PAN, bank and brand documents. Once your brand is approved, you manage listings, orders and payments in AJIO Seller Central.

Is GST mandatory to sell on AJIO?

Yes. A valid GSTIN is required, along with PAN, bank details, address proof, a brand logo and either a trademark certificate or an authorisation letter from the brand owner.

What size should AJIO product images be?

Use a 1:1.25 portrait ratio with more than 1000 px on both sides; 1600 × 2000 px is a safe target. Save at 72 dpi as JPEG or PNG, between 200 KB and 1 MB per file.

Can a ghost mannequin image be the first image on AJIO?

No. Mannequin, ghost mannequin and pack images can’t lead an apparel listing. Start with a cropped on-model front view and place mannequin frames later in the gallery.

Which image angles does AJIO require for apparel?

Front, side, back and detail are mandatory. The first image goes in the MODEL field, extra images in MODEL2, MODEL3 and onwards, and the colour swatch in its own SWATCH field.

How long does AJIO take to approve a catalog?

Plan for around 5 days of Auto QC and a further 5 business days of Manual QC after upload. Rejected rows come back with reasons and can be fixed and uploaded again.

Does AJIO offer A+ Content?

No A+ module builder is available to AJIO sellers. Your product page is built from catalog data, meaning attributes, image angles, swatch, size chart and video where enabled, and brand pages are arranged through your account manager.

Does Ckstudio shoot AJIO-ready catalogues?

Yes. Ckstudio shoots on-model, flat lay, ghost mannequin, detail and video content to AJIO’s 1:1.25 frame, with files named and foldered by style code so they drop straight into the catalog template.

How we get your styles AJIO-ready

One studio session covers every angle, the swatch and the video, and files leave named by style code so they drop straight into the template.

  1. Catalogue audit

We check your live listings and QC rejections against AJIO’s ratio, fill and angle rules.

  2. Shot list by style code

Every style gets its MODEL to MODEL5 plan, swatch and video before a camera comes out.

  3. Studio production

On-model, flat lay, ghost mannequin, detail and video in one controlled session.

  4. Retouch and colour match

Creases, colour accuracy and the 80–85% crop are checked file by file through our image editing team, then exported at 1600 × 2000 px under 1 MB.

  5. Swatches and campaign frames

True-colour swatches for every style, plus banner-ready lifestyle frames for brand pages and sale events.

  6. Template-ready delivery

Files named and foldered by style code, shared as a link the catalog template accepts.
