How a Flipkart product page reads on a phone

Most Flipkart shoppers decide inside the app. This replica is built from our own catalogue shots. Tap a callout to jump to that part of the page, swipe the photos, or switch styles.

  1. The first frame doubles as your search thumbnail. Shoppers swipe the rest in upload order, so plan all eight.

  2. Every swatch shows that variant’s own main image. One light setup for all colours makes the row read as a set.

  3. Ratings sit right under the title. Photos that match the delivered product keep “not as shown” reviews away.

  4. From 1 January 2027, a discount claim must be measured against the lowest price of the previous 30 days.

  1. Fit questions end at the size chart. A measured chart image cuts fit returns faster than any copy change.

  2. The delivery date comes from your fulfilment model. Since 23 August 2026, each missed dispatch date costs ₹30 to ₹90.

  3. The 2027 rules widen what must be shown: country of origin, return terms, return-shipping cost and seller identifiers such as GSTIN.

What is a Flipkart seller?

A Flipkart seller is a business with a GSTIN that lists products on Flipkart’s marketplace from a Seller Hub account, sets its own prices and stock, and fulfils orders either from its own premises through Flipkart’s pickup network or from Flipkart’s warehouses under Fulfilled by Flipkart (FBF). Flipkart never owns the goods: the listing, the images and the dispatch promise are the seller’s responsibility.

Flipkart shoppers buy on price, offers and delivery date, and they compare near-identical listings side by side in the app. Three things decide the sale: a main image that reads at thumbnail size, a gallery that answers fit and finish questions before the shopper scrolls to the description, and a dispatch record that keeps the delivery promise short.

How to start selling on Flipkart in 7 steps

Sign-up takes an afternoon. What slows sellers down comes later: a GSTIN that doesn’t match the bank account, a brand without approval, or images bounced by quality check in the week before a sale.

  1. Get GSTIN, PAN and bank details in order

Flipkart verifies your GSTIN, PAN, a bank account in the business name and a pickup address. Match every spelling to your GST registration, which you can check on the GST portal.

  2. Create your Seller Hub account

Register at seller.flipkart.com with a mobile number and email, then finish the business, bank and address checks.

  3. Apply for brand approval

Listing under a brand needs a trademark certificate or the brand owner’s authorisation letter. Regulated categories also ask for compliance documents before listings go live.

  4. Choose FBF or seller fulfilment

The model decides your fixed fee, your delivery speed and who carries the dispatch risk. Compare the two models before you send stock anywhere.

  5. Price with the full fee stack

Commission may be zero, yet fixed, collection, shipping and return fees still land on every order. Check your commission before you set MRP.

  6. Shoot every frame in one session

Mains, back, side, detail, on-model and size chart planned together look like one set and cost less than reshoots. See our Flipkart product photography service, and how to prepare garments for a model shoot.

  7. Go live before a sale window

List at least two weeks ahead of Big Billion Days or a brand day, so quality checks and the first reviews settle before traffic peaks.

Flipkart image specs that pass quality check (2026)

Flipkart screens every image before a listing goes live, and its rejection notes rarely say what failed. In our uploads, four faults cause most rejections: an off-white background, a product too small in the frame, files below zoom size, and text, stickers or borders on the main image.

Main-image style product photograph of a black and green backpack on a pure white background, centred so the bag fills most of the square frame, with crisp edges and true colours for a Flipkart bags listing
The main-image check we run on every file before delivery.

Main image must

  • Sit on pure white #FFFFFF in most categories
  • Fill about 85% of a square frame
  • Be at least 500 × 500 px; 1,000 px or more on each side unlocks zoom, and we export at 2,000 px
  • Carry no text, logo, watermark, MRP sticker or border
  • Show only what the buyer receives, in true colour

Other images can

  • Use models, lifestyle settings and infographics
  • Add short callouts, as long as each claim is accurate
  • Use a portrait 3:4 crop for fashion galleries, from the same master

Every listing needs at least 2 images and takes up to 8. JPEG in sRGB is safest; PNG is accepted. Category specs in the Seller Hub listing flow override these defaults.

The eight frames we plan for every listing

This order suits most fashion and lifestyle products. For electronics or home goods, swap the on-model frame for an in-use shot and the size chart for a dimensions graphic. Our post on how many photos a listing needs explains the reasoning.

  1. 1Main on whiteFront view, #FFFFFF, 85% fill
  2. 2Back viewSame pose and light
  3. 3Side or 45°Shape and depth
  4. 4Close-upFabric, print or finish
  5. 5On modelFit, drape, full length
  6. 6Size chartMeasured, cm and inches
  7. 7LifestyleWorn or used for real
  8. 8Pack or rangeWhat’s in the box, or colours

For apparel, the format decides how many of these frames you can fill well. Mix model photoshoots with ghost mannequin photography and flat lay frames, and read the full Flipkart photography guidelines for beginners.

“A Flipkart gallery is judged one swipe at a time, so the fifth frame has to hold up as well as the first. We light the whole set once, check the white and the fill on every file, and export square and portrait versions before anything leaves the studio.”

Flipkart Rich Product Description (A+ content) in 2026

Rich Product Description, or RPD, is Flipkart’s answer to A+ content: image-led blocks below the key features, such as a brand story, feature panels, how-to-use steps and comparisons within your own range. Access generally comes with brand approval and is switched on through Seller Hub or Flipkart’s catalogue support, so confirm it in your account before you plan a design.

Standard listing

  • Open toEvery seller
  • FormatKey features, specifications and text
  • ComparisonsNot available
  • Best forSimple SKUs listed fast

Rich Product Description

  • Open toBrand-approved sellers
  • FormatImage and text blocks, banners, story panels
  • ComparisonsYour own products side by side
  • Best forBrands with a range or a material story

Build RPD from the same shoot

  • Shoot a few wide frames with clear space for text panels, in the same light as the gallery.
  • Keep the words in RPD text fields, not baked into images, so they stay sharp and readable.
  • Compare only your own products, photographed side by side so differences are real.
  • Export each block to the canvas the RPD editor asks for; module sizes vary by category.

For infographic-style blocks, see our product infographic design work, and for story panels, our lifestyle product photography.

Why rich content gets sent back

  • Prices, discounts or “best seller” claims inside images.
  • Competitor brand names or comparisons with other brands.
  • Claims you can’t prove, such as “No. 1” or medical results.
  • Phone numbers, website links, QR codes or social handles.
  • Stretched or low-resolution images, or visuals that don’t match the product sold.

Listing video for Flipkart

Where your category allows video in the gallery, ten to twenty seconds of fit, movement or a working demo answers questions that stills leave open. Shoot it on the same day as the photos so colour and styling match frame for frame, then cut the same footage for ads and reels.

Here is a men’s T-shirt video commercial we produced for marketplace listings, including Flipkart. Watch how a garment in motion shows fit and fabric fall in a way a still front view cannot.

Flipkart seller fees and penalties in 2026

Flipkart charges 0% commission on any product priced below ₹1,000 and, since 8 July 2026, on every fashion product at any price (Flipkart Seller Hub). Zero commission is not zero cost, though. Check your listing below, then read the rest of the stack.

Fashion pays 0% commission at any price since 8 July 2026.

Fashion means the fashion category as classified in Seller Hub. Still payable on every order: fixed fee, collection fee, shipping, return shipping and GST on fees.

The rest of the fee stack

  • Fixed fee — per item, set by selling price and seller tier (Bronze to Platinum); lower on FBF.
  • Collection fee — for processing prepaid and cash-on-delivery payments.
  • Shipping fee — by weight and by local, zonal or national distance.
  • Return shipping — charged on returns, so true colour and a measured size chart pay for themselves. Read how to reduce returns with better product images.
  • GST — 18% on each fee line; put it in your unit cost.

Dispatch penalties since 23 August 2026

A shipment not ready by its Dispatch By Date costs ₹30. A seller cancellation, or an order auto-cancelled after three missed deadlines, costs ₹60. An order delayed and then cancelled costs ₹90. These per-order charges replaced the earlier account lock. Source: Outlook Business, August 2026.

FBF or seller-fulfilled: which suits your catalogue?

Your fulfilment model decides who holds stock, who packs and who carries the dispatch risk. Many sellers run their fastest movers and sale-event heroes on FBF and keep the long tail seller-fulfilled.

Fulfilled by Flipkart (FBF)

  • Stock sits in a Flipkart fulfilment centre
  • Flipkart picks, packs and delivers
  • Lower fixed fee per item
  • Dispatch timing handled by Flipkart

Best for fast movers and Big Billion Days heroes

Seller-fulfilled

  • Stock stays in your warehouse
  • You pack; Flipkart’s logistics picks up
  • Higher fixed fee per item
  • ₹30 to ₹90 per dispatch breach is yours

Best for the long tail, bulky or made-to-order items

New e-commerce rules from 1 January 2027: what changes for Flipkart sellers

The Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) (Amendment) Rules, 2026 were notified on 9 September 2026 and apply from 1 January 2027. Most duties fall on the marketplace, but several land directly on your listings.

  • Discount claims

A reduced price must be shown next to the prior price, and the prior price means the lowest price of the previous 30 days.

  • Product disclosures

Sellers must share country of origin, best-before dates where relevant, return, refund and exchange terms, warranties, delivery details, return-shipping cost and payment methods.

  • Seller identity

Sellers furnish a government identifier such as a GSTIN or MSME registration number, and marketplaces show fuller seller details.

  • Ads and search

Sponsored listings must be clearly labelled, and search results cannot be manipulated in ways that mislead shoppers.

What to fix before January

  • Review discount history per SKU so your strike-through price holds up against the 30-day rule.
  • Fill country of origin, return terms and warranty for every listing, not just new ones.
  • Check that photos match the delivered product, including pack contents and variant colours.

Growth habits that compound

  • Run Flipkart Ads only on listings that already convert without them.
  • Refresh mains and variant sets a week before every sale event, not the night before.
  • Reprice fashion SKUs from margin after the zero-commission change, not from last season’s MRP.
  • Check whether a bundle crosses ₹1,000; outside fashion, commission returns above that price.
  • Read return reasons monthly and fix the size chart and colour accuracy first. Our guide to how photography lifts Flipkart conversions shows where to start.
